Your portal profile

3 min read

Your profile on the portal is your page in the community. People see it when they look you up, and the Wall of Impact uses your photo from it.

NOTE

Your profile is public. Anyone can see it at portal.community.codetopia.org/@yourusername. Only add what you are happy for anyone to see.

Edit your profile

  1. Open your profile settings. Log in first if the portal asks.
  2. Change what you like:
    • Photo: click Upload a photo and pick a picture of you. A clear photo of your face helps people recognise you at events.
    • Bio: a line or two about you, like "CS student learning React, into design."
    • Skills and links: your GitHub, LinkedIn, X or website, if you have them. All optional.
  3. Click Save Changes.

Choose a team

If you would like to help one of our teams, you can pick it in your profile settings, under Team (from 14 October 2026, when teams go live on the portal). The team's lead will see it. Most members leave it as No team.

Ways to contribute explains what each team does.

Show your work

Helped a team with something? You can add it to your profile, with a link to the work. Once a team lead approves it, it shows under Contributions on your public profile. Log your work on the portal shows how.

Change your username

Your username can be changed in your profile settings with Edit username. After you change it, you cannot change it again for 90 days, so choose carefully.

Keep your account safe

Your account settings are on the portal's Security page.

Change your password:

  1. Under Change Password, type your Current Password.
  2. Type your New Password: at least 8 characters, with at least one number. Type it again in Confirm New Password.
  3. Click Update Password. You will see Password changed successfully.

Signed up with Google or GitHub? You do not have a portal password, and you do not need one: keep using that button to log in. If you ever need a password (for example to delete your account), log out, click Forgot password? on the login page, and use the link we email you to set one.

Lost a phone, or logged in on someone else's computer? Under Active Sessions you can see every device logged in to your account. Click Sign out next to one, or Sign Out All Other Sessions to log out everywhere except here. Then change your password.

Taking a break or leaving

  • Taking a break? You do not need to tell anyone. Mute the server on Discord (see Using Discord) and come back whenever you like.
  • Leaving for good? On the portal, go to Settings, then Security, then Delete Account. Type your password and click Delete My Account. This removes your portal account and cannot be undone. Signed up with Google or GitHub? Set a password first, as in Keep your account safe. To leave the Discord server too, open the server menu (tap or click the server's name) and choose Leave Server.
