Everyone here deserves to feel safe. Our code of conduct says how we treat each other, and our Community Moderators make sure it is followed.
If someone is rude, unkind or makes you uncomfortable, it is not your fault, and you do not have to deal with it alone.
Report a problem
You can report anything that breaks the code of conduct: insults, harassment, unwanted private messages, spam, or anything that feels wrong. You do not need to be sure. If in doubt, report it.
On Discord, report the message to our moderators:
- On a phone: press and hold the message, tap Apps, then Report to moderators.
- On a computer: right-click the message, choose Apps, then Report to moderators.
A small form opens. Say what is wrong if you like (you can leave it empty), and send. Our moderators get the message and your note privately. The person you reported is not told. When it has been dealt with, Vector sends you a private message to say so.
About a private message, or not on Discord? Email our moderators at codetopiancommunity@gmail.com (the Report an incident button on the code of conduct page does the same). Say what happened, when, and who was involved. A screenshot helps. Reports are handled privately.
Is your report about a moderator? Email codetopiancommunity@gmail.com instead, so it does not go to the person it is about.
Something illegal or dangerous, like threats, scams or explicit content? Also use Discord's own Report Message (in the same menu). That report goes to Discord, which can act across all of Discord, not only our server.
IMPORTANT
If you are ever in danger, contact someone you trust or the local emergency services first.
Block someone
Blocking stops a person from messaging you.
- Click or tap their name or picture.
- Open the menu on their profile (the three dots).
- Choose Block.
They are not told that you blocked them.
Protect yourself
- Never share your passwords, or the code from a sign-in email, with anyone. Nobody from Codetopia will ever ask for them.
- Be careful with private messages from strangers, especially ones offering jobs, money or prizes, or asking you to click a link. Real opportunities are posted publicly on our careers page.
- Keep personal details private: your home address, phone number, school timetable. Your profile does not need them.
- Under 18? Talk to a parent, guardian or teacher you trust if anything online worries you.
